It's a little known fact that 13 Reasons Why was first a book before a show. It's a novel written by Jay Asher released in 2007. Who knew it could take seven years and a Netflix series to make a story so popular? I finished the series last night, and I thought it was really good. It's so popular right now, it seems like everyone is or has finished it. If somehow you aren't familiar with the story line, you will be now. 13 Reasons Why is a story about a high school girl who commits suicide. She leaves behind tapes that have 13 reasons why she made the choice to end her life. Each tape is for one person, and tells all about how they were involved into her life, spilling secrets as she goes. The show deals with serious issues that are never talked about and need to be such as bullying, rape, teen suicide prevention, and more. While the show and book can get you really upset, it also finds ways to teach things to us, and treating us like young adults and not so much just kids. So, if you haven't seen it or read it, will you? Why?

I'm currently reading a book by Kathryn Stockett titled The Help. I'm past halfway but not finished quite yet. But so far, I love it. I really like reading about and studying the civil rights movement. I'm not completely sure why, but I think seeing this movie a few years ago is part of it. We were in Florida looking at books at a flea market, and I found this one. I bought it and barely put it down until we were home. I even brought it to dinner one night when we went out and read while my family talked. I felt a little guilty about that, but it's one that you can't put down. It's amazing, and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. If you've seen the movie, you didn't get the whole story, so if you liked it, read the book. As with almost every other movie made after a book, the book is always better. So have you read or seen the movie? If so, what did you think?
